A Partnership We're Proud Of
We've made it our mission to create a positive impact in the world. That's why we've partnered with Ocean Co. to help turn the tide on plastic pollution.
The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet and represents over 95% of the world’s biodiversity. We rely on the ocean to regulate our climate and provide food, energy and water; while plankton, kelp forests and coastal mangroves sequester vast amounts of carbon more effectively than land-based forests.
Sadly, 22 million kgs (almost 50 million lbs) of plastic enters our ocean every day. That's one truckload every minute. If nothing changes, by 2050 the plastic in the ocean will outweigh the fish. Plastic pollution is causing huge damage to the marine ecosystem, the food chain and, consequently, to our own health. Our oceans have even started to change colour due to human-induced climate change.
With the help of Ocean Co., they help to fund the ethical collection of ocean-bound plastic before it reaches the waters. Collection sites are secured, and plastic is collected by locals from some of the worst affected coastal communities such as the Philippines, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana, India and Indonesia.
Sustainability starts with keeping our oceans clean. Due to this, we wanted to collaborate with a like-minded brand on something meaningful and long-lasting—especially for Plastic Free July. Together with your help, we are committed to funding the collection of ocean-bound plastic.
For each item purchased in-stores or online, 100 plastic bottles will be collected by Ocean Co.
With this in mind, did you know that many of our jacket shells are made of 100% Recycled Polyester from post-consumer plastic bottles? Plus, the black interior fabric we use is made of 100% Recycled Nylon from discarded fishing nets. Some of our best selling styles with both are the Queen Parka, the Sabertooth II Parka, and the Juneau Parka. This is another way for us to be innovative, give back, and also helping to keep plastic out of our oceans.
